The annual Pint of Science festival will take place this year in three different bars (La Tertulia, Lemon Rock, and Sala Premier), over 3 days, with the themes Tech me out, Our society, and From atoms to galaxies (the complete list of talks can be found here).

From CIMCYC, researcher Carlos Pérez Amorós, from the UGR LabSex, and researcher María Ruz, from the Human Neuroscience Lab, will give talks on May 14th and 15th at Lemon Rock. On both days, doors will open at 7:45 PM, and the talks will begin at 8:00 PM.

Under the Covers with LabSex

Carlos Pérez Amorós (CIMCYC - UGR)

Dive into the science behind our research, revealing intimate secrets and demystifying taboos. What are the fantasies that ignite and extinguish passion? Discover with LabSex the most common sexual fantasies in Spain. We will try to explore rankings by gender, sexual orientation, and age. Join us on this journey through sexual psychophysiology and learn how we work in the laboratory to unravel the mysteries of our sexuality.

AI and Neurotechnology: Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde?

María Ruz (CIMCYC - UGR)

Today, there are technologies that record brain activity and also stimulate it, while the application of Artificial Intelligence to the field of neurotechnologies is growing exponentially. These advances offer clear benefits for humanity, but they also raise concerns about sensationalistic news regarding mind-reading, invasion of privacy, or control of our actions. In this talk, we'll be Jekyll and Hyde as we unmask charlatans, appreciate the advances of science, and discuss the essential regulation and transparency needed for the field.
