During July, the Mind, Brain and Behavior Research Center (CIMCYC) hosted 10 undergraduate students from other Spanish universities and international institutions within the Undergraduate Talent Attraction Program of the University of Granada.
Commitment to Transversal Training and Internationalization
Over the course of these four weeks, the students joined the laboratories’ daily research activities, collaborating on research projects under the guidance and supervision of center researchers.
This experience was made possible through the involvement of several CIMCYC research groups: Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine, Psychology of Social Problems, Cognitive Neuroscience, Human Psychophysiology and Health, Modeling and Measurement of Human Behavior, Memory and Language, Brain and Human Cognition, Psychoeducational Assessment and Intervention for Specific Educational Support Needs (PSICO-NEAE), and Thinking, Cognition and Driving.
In addition to engaging in laboratory work, the CIMCYC designed a transversal training program for the group, which was delivered in Spanish and English and was open to center staff. Highlights included a seminar showcasing research projects driven by the María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence, sessions on ethics in human research and open science, practical training in techniques such as EEG, mouse tracking and psychophysiological recording, as well as cultural activities such as a visit to the Alhambra.
An Experience with a Future Promise
This program is organized by the UGR Vice-Rectorate for Research and Transfer and has a dual objective: to enhance students’ scientific education by introducing them to real-world research practice, and to offer an enriching personal and professional experience fostered by interactions among people from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds.
This University of Granada initiative also provides students from Spain and abroad first-hand insight into the quality of its research groups, strengthening ties with other universities while fostering scientific collaboration and the recruitment of future talent for master's and doctoral programs.
CIMCYC wraps up this edition of the Talent Attraction Program with great satisfaction and a commitment to continue promoting initiatives that connect young talent with cutting-edge science and build bridges of collaboration with universities worldwide.
