TMS machines work by stimulating electrical activity in the brain with brief magnetic pulses. This technology is extremely useful for establishing causal relationships between the operation of specific regions of the cerebral cortex and their involvement in specific cognitive processes.
The CIMCYC TMS laboratory is equipped with two stimulation devices (Magstim Rapid² and The Magstim® BiStim²), a neuronavigation system (BrainSight), a stimulating robot (Auxilium robotic), and an eye tracking system (EyeLink 1000 Plus).
