The Center for Adaptive Rationality (ARC) at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development, Berlin, under the direction of Ralph Hertwig, seeks applicants for Post- or Pre-doctoral Fellowship. The position is available from April 2014 onwards, but later start dates are possible. Candidates should be interested in studying the neural mechanisms underlying decision making.

El próximo martes 18 de febrero, a las 16:30, el prof. Charan Ranganath (http://neuroscience.ucdavis.edu/user/51) dará una charla en la Sala de Conferencias 2 del CIMCYC
El objetivo de este curso es introducir a los conceptos básicos del acceso abierto (Open Access) a la literatura científica. El cuso de 2 horas consta de una parte práctica dónde se define el origen del acceso abierto, las políticas vinculadas al acceso abierto por parte de revistas científicas e instituciones y el impacto que están teniendo, asimismo se presentan las principales herramientas y directorios vinculados al acceso abierto (repositorios, sherpa-romeo Dulcinea, etc…). En la segunda parte nos concentramos en mostrar de manera práctica como poner en acceso abierto de forma eficaz los materiales que se derivan de nuestras investigaciones. Más concretamente nos concentramos en cómo poner en acceso abierto los artículos científicos, el material complementario y los datos de investigación. We are looking for at least one young researcher with previous research experience and the potential to develop into a productive and independent scientist. We are particularly interested in outstanding students with a passion for the mind/brain sciences who do not yet have a PhD but who intend to continue in their postgraduate studies at the PhD level.
We invite applications from PhD students, post-doc and young researchers to attend the Summer School on “Shared Experiences : the boundaries of the social brain”, organized by Manos Tsakiris (Royal Holloway), Ophelia Deroy & Barry Smith ( Centre for the Study of the Senses & Institute of Philosophy, UoL, UK).
The Summer School will take place in the Island of Aegina, Greece (approximately 1 hour by boat from Piraeus, the port of Athens), at the wonderful location of the historic Hotel Apollo, from June 22nd to 28th , 2014.

Specific challenge: This initiative addresses the interdisciplinary fundamentals of knowing, thinking, doing and being, in close synergy with foundational research on future artificial cognitive systems, robots, smart artefacts and large scale cyber-physical systems.
