The University of Granada (UGR) has signed a strategic collaboration agreement with the Bank of Spain to promote technological projects in the field of cognitive neuroscience applied to cash. This initiative, promoted and led by the Mind, Brain and Behavior Research Center (CIMCYC) of the UGR, consolidates an alliance that will strengthen the study of psychology and neuroscience applied to cash, an area of growing interest.

The agreement aims to establish a solid and sustained collaboration between the two institutions. It will enable joint participation in technological projects that explore the in-depth interaction between the mind, brain and human behavior related to the use and perception of money. This alliance also opens the door to the possible participation of other Central Banks and public and private organizations.

The Bank of Spain has positioned itself as an international benchmark in the application of neuroscience in cash life cycle processes. This commitment is reflected in the Neurocash brand, which has been registered by this institution since 2022, bringing science-based innovation to the financial sector. For its part, the CIMCYC, accredited as a María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence, is a leading international reference in cognitive neuroscience and features cutting-edge technology in its research.

The strategic alliance between the CIMCYC's cutting-edge research and the Bank of Spain's experience opens new avenues for knowledge transfer in the development of solutions for the financial world.

This alliance responds to a commitment to strategic collaboration between universities, research centers and other public institutions to respond effectively to current technological demands and contribute to socioeconomic development through R+D+i.
