Applications are invited for a PhD position to perform research within the scope of the project „Brain and body rhythms: on the relationship between movement and percept“. The project will investigate how the movements of our body influence visual perception by analyzing behavioral and electrophysiological data.
The successful applicant will (learn how to) actively and independently plan and carry out the acquisition of behavioral, movement (including eye and body movements) and electrophysiological (magnetoencephalography - MEG) data in healthy human adults. Further, the complex analysis of the aforementioned data with a special focus on brain oscillations and state of the art source localization of brain activity will be performed. Applicants will further learn how to develop and program stimulation and analysis protocols. Additionally, there is the exciting opportunity to analyze invasive human and non-human cortical recordings.

In addition, the project includes two international collaborations you will play an active part in. We are seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented graduate, capable of working independently with a strong interest in cognitive or behavioral neuroscience. Experience in the use of MATLAB (with a focus on fieldtrip and psychophysics toolbox) or a general affinity to programming will be very helpful. Experience with MEG, EEG or multielectrode recordings is advantageous but not mandatory. Candidates should hold a diploma or a master’s degree in neuroscience, psychology, biology, biomedicine or any related subject.
The position is for up to four years. The earliest starting date is December 2016, but the position will be open until filled. Salary will be based on the pay scale for the public sector in Germany (TV-L E13/50%). Preference will be given to handicapped persons in case of otherwise equal aptitude. The University aims at increasing the proportion of female employees.
