What happens in this and many other daily situations is due to a phenomenon known as decreased vigilance: it is difficult for us to maintain our attention for a prolonged period of time, which is why it declines over time.

This research compared two phenomena that often appear in the literature as interchangeable elements: Selective Attention and Perceptual Expectancy. We can understand Attention as the selection of task-relevant stimuli, while Expectancy refers to the anticipation of probable information.

Description: In this course, basic notions of programming applied to research in psychology will be taught. Students will acquire the fundamental elements for programming in Matlab (types of variables, loops, conditionals, functions...) through sessions that will combine theoretical explanations and practical exercises. Emphasis will be placed on how to use these resources for data processing. Finally, the course will offer the option of applying the acquired knowledge to data sets provided by the students.
