Mind, Brain and Behavior Research Center
The Mind, Brain and Behavior Research Center (CIMCYC, https://cimcyc.ugr.es/en) of the University of Granada in Spain brings together world-class research in several key areas of Psychology and Neuroscience with the mission to produce excellent international science, train excellent professionals and go to great lengths to impact society and make the world a better place for its citizens. Job description:
The hired person will be in charge of designing, promoting and managing scientific culture projects associated with CIMCYC's research lines, with the aim of giving greater visibility and impact to the research activity carried out at the center. This role will focus on the transfer of the research carried out at CIMCYC to the social and industrial areas.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for Science Outreach and Transfer of the “María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence” of the Mind, Brain and Behavior Research Center (CIMCYC) of the University of Granada.
- Promotion and organization (design, planning, management, monitoring and impact assessment) of scientific culture and citizen science events led by CIMCYC. These include, among others:
- Visits by groups external to CIMCYC (e.g. primary, secondary school students, or cultural associations).
- CIMCYC stand at the European Researchers' Night.
- Programs of activities for young visiting researchers (e.g. Graduate Talent Recruitment Program).
- International Summer Schools of CIMCYC.
- Search for funding and management of the necessary documentation for the application, execution, follow-up and closure of the culture and scientific communication projects carried out in the center.
- Preparation of an annual report on the center's activities.
- Management of citizen and institutional requests (e.g. from educational centers) for the visit of CIMCYC researchers for outreach activities in other centers.
- Training the center's staff in scientific outreach skills.
- Support for presentations of the center's staff in scientific culture activities.
- Drafting of press releases; contacts with specialized and general media.
- Dynamization, content updating and maintenance of the CIMCYC's website and social networks (e.g. X).
- Dissemination of research carried out at the center on the CIMCYC website and social networks (e.g. X).
- Representation of the center in events and conferences on projects or actions in the field of scientific culture and transfer.
- Actions to promote collaboration agreements with other public and private entities in the area of scientific culture.
- Actions to promote research transfer agreements and contracts between projects and/or activities led by CIMCYC personnel and local, regional, national and international public companies or organizations.
- Attention to citizen and institutional consultations on the work carried out by CIMCYC.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Required:
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
- Oral and written fluency in Spanish and English.
Desirable qualifications:
- Master's degree in areas related to scientific communication and/or culture.
- Ph.D in areas related to specialization in science communication.
- Knowledge of scientific content related to CIMCYC’s lines of research (Psychology and/or Neuroscience).
Desirable experience:
- Experience in the organization of scientific culture programs.
- Experience in the coordination and organization of face-to-face events, fairs, citizen round tables, etc.
- Experience in the promotion, design, management and justification of funding calls for national and international scientific culture projects.
- Experience in managing websites and social networks and measuring their impact.
- Experience in drafting reports and justification reports of activities carried out and their impact.
- Knowledge of the scientific scope of the research conducted at CIMCYC (Psychology/Neuroscience).
- Knowledge of the regional system of universities, science, technology and innovation of Spain and the European Union.
- Knowledge of the business, associative and organizational system with interests related to the research and actions carried out at CIMCYC.
Desirable skills:
- Excellent communication skills, written and oral, in Spanish and English.
- Graphic design and video recording, editing and editing.
- Ability to work independently and autonomously.
- Proactive attitude, flexibility and efficiency in problem solving.
- Positive attitude for teamwork and orientation towards results.
- Ability to manage time and prioritize activities.
SALARY
Monthly gross salary € 2300
