A CIMCYC researcher and UGR professor joins an advisory team of mental health experts covering the period from birth through adolescence.

Dulce Romero Ayuso, a professor in the Physical Therapy Department at the University of Granada and a researcher at the Mind, Brain, and Behavior Research Center (CIMCYC), has joined an advisory working group for the Mental Health Action Plan 2025-2027. This plan is promoted and coordinated by the Commissioner for Mental Health within Spain's Ministry of Health.

The Action Plan comprises eight strategic lines designed to address the mental health challenges of the population, with a special emphasis on specific vulnerable groups who require targeted actions for managing their mental health issues. Professor Romero Ayuso participates in Strategic Line 6: "Mental Health in perinatal, childhood, and adolescent populations."

The objective of this working group is to collaborate in forming an expanded advisory team, focused on preparing technical reports and updating the national mental health strategy for perinatal, child and adolescent health. This work will be carried out with an interdisciplinary, inter-institutional, and intersectoral coordination approach, ensuring comprehensive, evidence-based care.

The group Professor Romero Ayuso is joining consists of a multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, and other mental health professionals. Representatives from various relevant organizations and scientific societies in the field of mental health also participate.

Professor Romero Ayuso, an occupational therapist and psychologist, coordinates the Occupational Therapy Degree program at the University of Granada and is a member of CIMCYC's Cognitive Neuroscience research group. Her current research focuses on enhancing prospective memory, planning, and task supervision skills in daily life for children and adolescents with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
