Effects of income level and educational level on prosocial behavior and other variables

The economic and social position in a society, or socioeconomic status, influences many aspects of people's lives, such as emotional well-being or sense of control. To calculate the socioeconomic status of individuals, income and educational level are generally used together, creating a composite index. However, these two characteristics may have different effects on important variables such as prosocial behavior, which refers to activities and behaviors that benefit others and are carried out without expectation of direct or immediate reward.

Neurodevelopment, cortisol and stress during pregnancy

From the Mind, Brain and Behavior Research Center of the University of Granada, a team of researchers from the Clinical Neuropsychology and Psychoneuroimmunology (PNinsula) group (CTS-581), has carried out a study entitled "Can we influence the neurological development and hair cortisol concentration of offspring by reducing the stress of the mother during pregnancy? A randomized controlled trial," published in the journal "Stress and Health."

Exposure to similar stimuli and ingestion

Perceptual learning refers to the process by which mere exposure to similar stimuli enhances their subsequent discrimination. This learning also appears to be involved in eating behavior and obesity. Currently, massive exposure to junk food results in improved discrimination between sensory similar foods, leading to a lack of generalization of sensory-specific satiety and thus to an increase in consumption by the so-called "buffet effect".

S-SEIS: Spanish adaptation of the Economic Inequality Support Scale.
