The Mind, Brain, and Behavior Research Center (CIMCYC) of the University of Granada participated in the 43rd Granada Book Fair "Mujeres, literaturas" (Women, Literatures), held from May 9th to 18th. CIMCYC offered three talks that explored research in various areas of Psychology.

Around a hundred people enjoyed CIMCYC's talks, and there was great public interest in understanding the interactions between the mind, brain, and current social phenomena. All the talks had enriching spaces for questions and debate.

CIMCYC's participation began on Sunday, May 11th, in the Science Area, where Javier de Echárri presented "Stress and its Consequences on Health." The talk, framed within research in psychoneuroimmunology, explained the profound impact of chronic stress on both physical and mental health. The activities of the Science Area were organized in collaboration with the Andalusian Institute of Astrophysics (IAA), the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), the Zaidín Experimental Station (EEZ), and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).

On Tuesday, May 13th, the Andalusian Women's Institute hosted the talk "Deconstructing Neurosexism" by Elisa Martín Arévalo and Rocío Martínez Gutiérrez. From the perspective of neuroscience and social psychology, the researchers presented current scientific evidence about the brain to demystify some ingrained beliefs about the differences between men's and women's brains. They also explored how gender stereotypes and roles influence people's beliefs and behaviors. This activity was part of the Violet Readings series, organized by the Equality Area of the Department of Education, Employment, and Equality of the Granada City Council and the State Pact against Gender Violence.
