Clinical neuropsychology

Clinical neuropsychology consists of the evaluation and rehabilitation of neuropsychological deficits resulting from brain damage or dysfunction in patients with neurological, medical or psychological problems. Here we have demonstrated, for example, the existence of significant executive and brain dysfunctions in the ventral striatum and prefrontal cortex in drug users. We have also contributed to a transdiagnostic dimensional approach to the neuropsychological assessment of patients with substance abuse.

In the case of obese individuals, we have found structural and functional brain alterations related to excess weight. We have also characterized attentional and perceptual deficits after brain damage, white matter disconnections and their relationship with perceptual awareness.

We have also applied new technologies to the field of neuropsychological rehabilitation, such as lifelogging technology or telerehabilitation of brain-damaged patients. These new contributions have been made taking into account the holistic neuropsychological rehabilitation procedure, a very effective rehabilitation approach for brain-damaged patients.
