Clinical Neuropsychology

Clinical neuropsychology focuses on the assessment and rehabilitation of neuropsychological deficits resulting from brain damage or dysfunction in patients with neurological, medical, or psychological conditions. Here, for example, we have demonstrated significant executive dysfunction and abnormalities in the ventral striatum and prefrontal cortex in drug users. We have also contributed to a transdiagnostic, dimensional approach to the neuropsychological assessment of patients with substance use disorders.

In people with obesity, we have identified structural and functional brain alterations associated with excess weight. We have also characterized attentional and perceptual deficits following brain damage, as well as white matter disconnections and their relationship to perceptual awareness.

In addition, we have applied new technologies to neuropsychological rehabilitation, including lifelogging technology and telerehabilitation for brain-injured patients. These contributions have been developed within a holistic neuropsychological rehabilitation framework, which has proven to be a highly effective approach for patients with brain damage.
