The Mind, Brain and Behavior Research Center (CIMCYC) of the University of Granada has signed a collaboration agreement with the Science Park of Granada (Spain) to promote scientific culture among citizens through the development of dissemination and research projects of excellence. This strategic collaboration reinforces the commitment of both institutions to generating and disseminating scientific knowledge as a key driver of growth and social transformation.
The union of both institutions aims to develop research activities, scientific dissemination, and educational innovation actions focused on knowledge about the brain, mind, and behavior, as well as their relationship with learning processes in STEM disciplines and the development of critical thinking, essential skills in today's society.
Through this agreement, exhibition projects will be designed to communicate knowledge about the mind, the brain and human behavior to the general public. Activities will be developed, primarily aimed at children and young people. The promotion of scientific vocations from an early age and the encouragement of scientific culture to foster critical thinking among citizens in the face of current disinformation and polarization are two of the principal axes on which the joint actions will be developed.
The alliance between CIMCYC's excellence in research and the Science Park's track record, knowledge, and experience in education and science communication will enable the design and implementation of innovative proposals that address the challenges of today's society, including exhibitions, educational workshops, informative events, and applied research projects. The interdisciplinary collaboration between the teams of both institutions will ensure that the contents are rigorous and attractive, adapted to different ages and levels of knowledge.
The commitment to society is a fundamental axis of CIMCYC's work, which has been significantly boosted by the recent accreditation as a María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence. Within the framework of this recognition, CIMCYC has strengthened its Scientific Outreach and Transfer area, dedicated to designing and managing projects that ensure the greater visibility and social impact of its research activity. This ensures that the results of its research and those of psychological science in general can be disseminated to the non-specialized public of all ages.
The collaboration is part of the Science Park's commitment to research and innovation in the social communication of science, aiming to generate scientific knowledge, promote the transfer of research results to the practice of communication, popularization, and education, and disseminate the findings achieved among the public and the educational community. It is also developed within the framework of its recently established Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit, which is accredited by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology and the Spanish Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities.
This agreement establishes the foundation for a stable collaboration that aims to develop a practice of science communication grounded in evidence, involving society in the advancement of science and promoting dialogue between research and the dissemination of knowledge, making it more accessible and relevant to the public.
