Ergonomía

Researchers at the CIMCYC study key human factors that impact performance in complex, high-risk settings, such as air traffic control and automotive driving, to transfer this knowledge to practical applications.

For example, extensive research has led to the development of a computational mental load model, which serves as the basis for a computer application of Artificial Intelligence (COMETA). It is currently being used by EUROCONTROL, the European air traffic management company, at its headquarters in Maastricht. CIMCYC researchers have also participated in the H2020 project "AUTOPACE", generating a psychological model to investigate the effect of automation on human performance. This has also generated transferable knowledge in framework agreements with the CRIDA (https://crida.es/webcrida/), the Spanish reference center for improving air traffic efficiency. In addition, other CIMCYC researchers are leading projects focused on highly automated driving and its interaction with human factors.

Additional ergonomics research is linked to cultural or individual variability in circadian rhythms, as well as attention and performance in various driving situations.
