With more than a thousand events across 75 locations, the international science outreach festival Pint of Science will fill bars across the country with science on May 19, 20 and 21. Through 20 to 30-minute outreach talks, monologues or experiments, researchers from all fields of knowledge will take science out of the laboratories and share their knowledge with the public in bars.
In Granada, Pint of Science will take place at Lemon Rock, Café Pub Liberia and Cotton Club, featuring a total of 18 scientific talks covering the following topics: Our society, From atoms to galaxies, Tech me out, Planet Earth, Our body and Beautiful mind.
The CIMCYC at Pint of Science
Talks by researchers from the CIMCYC will begin on Monday, May 19 at 8:00 p.m. with Fernando Blanco and his presentation "Everyone is in on it: Psychology and conspiracies". In this session, Blanco will explore the psychological mechanisms that make conspiracy theories attractive, even to educated individuals. He will analyze the role of emotional manipulation and the need for belonging.
The science of emotions will continue on Tuesday, May 20 at 8:00 p.m. with Andrea Redondo Armenteros and her talk "Death and grief: Reflections on saying goodbye". Redondo Armenteros will address the complex process of grieving after the loss of a loved one, examining its emotional, individual and social dimensions.
Finally, on Wednesday, May 21 at 8:00 p.m., Juana Muñoz López will present "Teach me to read with science". In this talk, Muñoz López will introduce INVENTAPALABRAS, an innovative and adaptable tool designed for training and intervention in reading difficulties, based on scientific evidence from psycholinguistics.
The participation of CIMCYC researchers in Pint of Science highlights the commitment to bringing cutting-edge research on the mind and brain closer to the public in an accessible and entertaining way.
