Science Week at CIMCYC: Visit from Students
On Tuesday, November 12, 2024, a group of 40 primary and high school students visited the Mind, Brain, and Behavior Research Center (CIMCYC) at the University of Granada as part of Science Week activities. The students came from Colegio Padre Manjón and IES Federico García Lorca. Throughout the morning, they participated in interactive workshops on neuroscience and psychology.
The visit began with a welcome in the Conference Halls by María Ruz, Director of CIMCYC, and Lina Combita, a Developmental Neuroscience researcher at the center. After this introduction, the students were divided into groups to rotate through various laboratories, where they enjoyed activities tailored to their interests and age groups.
The workshops covered a wide range of topics. Primary school children participated in playful learning activities, a transcranial magnetic stimulation workshop, and a word creation session. High school students attended workshops on human sexuality research, creativity and neuroscience, emotions, the effects of exercise on the brain, and the mind-body connection. Additionally, the visit included lectures: one on behavior and the brain, and another on mental illusions.
Science Week continues to be an ideal opportunity to bring science closer to young audiences, inspiring them to explore the mysteries of the brain and human behavior.
