The Mind, Brain and Behavior Research Center (the CIMCYC) celebrated Science Week by receiving a visit from students and teachers of the Al Zawiya School in La Zubia. This activity is part of the Science Week Activities Program coordinated by the University of Granada's Unit of Scientific Culture and Innovation.
A total of 38 children, accompanied by four teachers, visited the center's facilities to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of the brain, mind and behavior. This initiative is part of the CIMCYC's commitment to outreach and fostering scientific vocations.
The visit featured an interactive tour through various laboratories and workshops, where the children learned how research is conducted at the center and what the impact of psychological research is on people's lives. The students learned fundamental concepts about brain function and cognitive processes, aligning with their school projects which focused on the human body at the start of the academic year.
Furthermore, they learned about cutting-edge techniques and tools used in neuroscience. They saw electroencephalography (EEG) and transcranial magnetic stimulation in action, helping them understand how brain responses are measured and how these tools are used to study human behavior.
It was a day full of curiosity and questions. The CIMCYC extends its thanks to the Al Zawiya School for their participation!
