Aulas, ciencia e inclusión: el CIMCYC recibió a más de 200 visitantes en el curso 25/26
  • Throughout the academic year, 177 students and teachers from various educational centers in Granada and Almeria visited the center’s laboratories.
  • In 2026, CIMCYC strengthened its commitment to social inclusion by joining the "Science Bridges" (Puentes de Ciencia) outreach program.

During the 2025/2026 academic year, the Mind, Brain and Behavior Research Center (CIMCYC) at the University of Granada welcomed over 200 visitors to its facilities, bringing neuroscience and psychology closer to the public.

Scientific Vocations from Classrooms

Throughout the school year, 177 primary, secondary and high school students and teachers toured the CIMCYC laboratories to learn firsthand how research is conducted on cognitive processes, the brain and human behavior.

  • La Madraza High School, Granada: April 9, 2026

  • Laurel de la Reina High School, La Zubia, Granada: March 20, 2026 (Brain Awareness Week)

  • El Parador High School, Almeria: February 16, 2026 (International Day of Women and Girls in Science)

  • Albayzín High School / Pedro Soto de Rojas High School, Granada: January 28, 2026

  • Blas Infante High School, Ogíjares, Granada: December 17, 2025

  • Al-Zawiya School, La Zubia, Granada: November 7, 2025 (Science Week)

Visits begin with an introductory session presenting CIMCYC’s mission, research activities, infrastructure, and scientific techniques. The students then visited the laboratories and participated in interactive workshops related to various areas of psychology. High school students (Bachillerato) are also provided with information regarding the Psychology degree and careers in scientific research. Additionally, these visits offer a valuable opportunity to interact with early-career researchers.

“Science Bridges”: Inclusive Outreach for Social Integration

In 2026, CIMCYC joined the "Science Bridges" (Puentes de Ciencia) program. This initiative promotes inclusive scientific outreach and is coordinated by the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA-CSIC) in collaboration with several CSIC research centers and the University of Granada.

The center hosted 30 individuals connected to the NGO Provivienda and Granada Acoge as part of this initiative. The activities included practical workshops and guided lab tours tailored to the interests and linguistic and cultural needs of the participants.

The main objective of this program is to bring science closer to vulnerable groups or those at risk of social exclusion, using science as a vehicle for integration, intercultural understanding and civic empowerment. CIMCYC extends its outreach efforts to population sectors that are typically disconnected from scientific culture circuits thanks to this partnership.

With the conclusion of this academic year, CIMCYC reaffirms its dedication to fostering scientific vocations and promoting inclusive science outreach.
