PsychoBeers

PsychoBeers is a science communication initiative organized by doctoral and postdoctoral researchers at CIMCYC that combines science, entertainment and public engagement. It offers talks on psychology and related fields connected to the mind, behavior and brain (such as neuroscience, anthropology and history) in an approachable, relaxed environment like local pubs and bars.

The goal is to bring rigorous, firsthand scientific outreach to the public—reducing the gap between scientific evidence and its social impact—through the participation of leading researchers and science communicators.

PsychoBeers Objectives

  1. Share high-quality knowledge in psychology and related fields directly from the researchers themselves.

  2. Make this information accessible to diverse audiences through an approachable, clear and engaging style.

  3. Present up-to-date evidence on the mind, behavior and brain, providing relevant data for contemporary discussions.

  4. Foster critical thinking and a scientific mindset, encouraging people to reflect on and apply this approach to everyday life.

  5. Promote interaction among different sectors of society and fields of knowledge before, during and after the talks.

  6. Bring science closer to young people and offer a realistic perspective on research careers.

  7. Highlight the role of women in science by featuring top-tier researchers in neuroscience and cognitive science.

  8. Raise awareness about the vital importance of scientific research in modern societies.
