Every June 28, International LGBTQIA+ Pride Day is celebrated in commemoration of the 1969 Stonewall uprising in New York City, which emerged in response to police violence and discrimination. This date is widely regarded as the starting point of the modern movement advocating for the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and asexual people. Although significant progress has been made in securing rights and freedoms, many LGBTQIA+ individuals around the world still face inequalities, lack of visibility, social barriers and human rights violations.
At CIMCYC, we stand in solidarity with these efforts by promoting initiatives that help raise awareness of the realities, needs and inequalities affecting LGBTQIA+ individuals. Our initiatives contribute to dispelling myths about LGBTQIA+ people and provide scientific evidence informed by sexual and gender diversity perspectives.
