HUM740: Memory and Language

The research group works on the cognitive mechanisms that allow us to control our thoughts, memories and also language.

This interest extends to the study of these processes in the normal population, but also in the deterioration of these mechanisms with ageing, in patients with schizophrenia and in their use by bilingual people to control the use of their two languages.

Lines of research:

  • Impairment of memory control in ageing and intervention programs.
  • Cognitive control, memory and non-invasive brain stimulation.
  • Cognitive learning: Language, Numbers and Arithmetic.
  • Cognitive Flexibility, Hormonal Changes and Ageing.
  • Language control mechanisms in bilinguals and translators.
  • Mechanisms of memory and language control.
  • Memory and attention processes in schizophrenia.
  • Cognitive, neuronal, sociocultural and genetic factors that determine success or failure in learning processes at school.
