Research in psychometrics, methods and data analysis contributes to the high quality of research conducted at the CIMCYC. Researchers in the field of behavioral science methodology, together with their colleagues in other fields of psychology, provide cutting-edge methodological developments that enhance the impact of research conducted in many other lines of inquiry.
The CIMCYC researchers make important contributions to psychometrics on topics such as measurement equivalence, bias, test and questionnaire development, and response processes for testing and scaling elements of the more modern mixed method approach to validity theory. This has been applied to topics such as sense of humor, driving, violence against women, sexuality, or forensics.
Methodological work also plays a relevant role in numerous lines of research developed by the CIMCYC research staff such as burnout in healthcare personnel, driving simulations, chronic pain, radicalizations towards terrorism, or evidence-based peer mentoring programs. The latter is part of a major H2020 project entitled “Cultural pathways to economic self-sufficiency and entrepreneurship: family values and youth unemployment in Europe (CUPESSE)”.
In addition, the CIMCYC research has contributed several novel methods for assessing mental functions in patients with neuropsychological impairments.
