The Mind, Brain and Behavior Research Center (CIMCYC) closed its cycle of CIMCYC Sessions last Thursday, July 3, in the Sala de Juntas in Carmen de la Victoria. The cycle will resume its activity with new features in September.
This closing event served as a bridge for the communication of innovation projects in various areas of knowledge between researchers from CIMCYC and DaSCI (Andalusian Interuniversity Institute for Data Science and Computational Intelligence), thanks to the collaboration of Francisco Jesús Martínez-Murcia, researcher in biological signal processing and analysis. Some conclusions centered on the role of integrating biological data in decoding and better understanding how the brain works, as well as the use of AI as a tool for analyzing EEG signals to enhance cognition.
The season, which culminated with this end-of-course event, was highly gratifying in terms of the effort invested and the results obtained. Throughout eight sessions, which began at the end of March 2025, topics related to Artificial Intelligence, the mind and the brain alternated. In parallel, the EEG+ sessions provided a space for learning and exchanging impressions in a relaxed atmosphere, open to anyone interested in deepening the analysis of brain signals. Most of these sessions could be followed both online and in person, with an average participation of 10 to 15 attendees per event.
A notable aspect of these sessions was the moments dedicated to questions and answers, where attendees interacted, seeking solutions to the challenges posed and reaching conclusions through group discussion. In addition, the CIMCYC Sessions stood out for promoting interdisciplinary talks and debates, which allowed the exploration of new research trends and their direct application in the daily work of researchers. In addition, the experience and specialized training of each speaker attracted professionals from various university departments, which enriched the understanding of how the same topic can be applied in different areas of research.
The CIMCYC Sessions are a space open to anyone interested in the issues raised. Although most participants are researchers from the center itself, there has also been external collaboration, and in future editions, we will seek greater collaboration from multiple disciplines.
Proactivity and the spirit of collaboration are characteristics of attendees and organizers of these spaces. Therefore, those interested in joining the upcoming season, which will start in September, are invited to submit their proposals and ideas.
