The Ministry of Science, Innovation, and Universities recognized all Severo Ochoa Centers and María de Maeztu Units accredited since 2018 in a ceremony held at CaixaForum in Madrid, presided over by Minister Diana Morant. Minister Morant emphasized the "profound transformative capacity" of these institutions of excellence in addressing the country's challenges through science. She also highlighted the "impact of their research on the well-being of citizens and their great capacity to attract research talent."
The accreditation for CIMCYC was received by its director, María Ruz, accompanied by Teresa Bajo, one of the guarantor researchers of the María de Maeztu-CIMCYC Unit of Excellence, and Sergio Moreno, a member of the Governing Commission. Representing the University of Granada, the Vice-Rector for Research and Transfer, Enrique Herrera, also attended the event, along with Joaquín Pérez, Scientific Director of the IMAG Unit of Excellence at UGR, and Miguel Martín, Deputy Director of the Institute of Mathematics.
