"Psychological Approaches to Misinformation in Minds and Society" Summer School

The Mind, Brain and Behavior Research Center (CIMCYC) of the University of Granada will host the International Doctoral Summer School "Psychological Approaches to Misinformation in Minds and Society" from September 15 to 18, 2026. This four-day, fully in-person event is designed for PhD candidates and early-career researchers in Psychology and related disciplines.

Misinformation has become a topic of high relevance due to its negative effects on society, including conspiracy theories, attacks on science and hate speech. This Summer School aims to advance understanding of how and why people engage with such content and to develop evidence-based interventions to reduce individual susceptibility.

This CIMCYC International Doctoral Summer School will focus on the psychology of misinformation by integrating views from individual, group and societal levels of analysis, including basic cognitive processes, bias, persuasion, prejudice and ideologies.

The program combines keynote lectures by leading international scholars with collaborative group work. Expert-led sessions will address major theoretical frameworks, methods and empirical findings on misinformation and disinformation, with particular attention to the effectiveness and limits of intervention strategies.

Invited speakers include Liza Fazio (Vanderbilt University), Paula Gori (European Digital Media Observatory), Pablo Hernández (Fundación Maldita.es), Stephan Lewandowsky (University of Bristol), Helena Matute (Universidad de Deusto) and Jon Roozenbeek (University of Cambridge).

In total, 26 candidates will be selected to participate in this stimulating environment for professional development and international networking.

The application deadline is May 22, 2026. Further information regarding the program and application process can be found on the official website: https://sites.google.com/view/misinformation-summerschool/
